Case Study: Nonprofit Video Storage Upgrade in Washington, DC
A Washington, DC nonprofit recently partnered with MacMedics to modernize its aging shared storage environment and create a stronger foundation for video production, creative collaboration, and long-term data protection. The organization had been relying on three QNAP systems, with the original unit installed in 2016, because QNAP was a practical and cost-effective RAID solution at the time. As storage demands grew and collaborative workflows became more important, it was time to move to a more capable platform.
MacMedics designed and installed a new Studio Network Solutions EVO 128 TB shared storage server to host the organization’s video and creative assets and support network-based collaboration for the team. The new system gives the nonprofit a substantial performance upgrade, improves centralized access to working files, and adds a more scalable storage platform built for media workflows. It also strengthens data protection while positioning the organization for future growth.
To maximize the client’s existing investment, the newest QNAP units were not discarded. Instead, they were repurposed to serve as backup systems for the new SNS EVO environment, creating an added layer of protection for critical media and project data. This approach improved performance and collaboration without wasting usable hardware.
